Botanical Family: Asteraceae or Compositae (daisy)

Extraction Method/Origin: Steam distillation from stems, leaves, and flowers—Eastern Canada

Chemical Constituents: Monoterpenes (up to 55%): α-pinene (<18%), myrcene (<15%), l-limonene (<12%), sabinene (<11%), α-phellandrene (<2%); Sesquiterpenes (up to 35%): germacrene-D (<35%), isolongifolene; Alcohols: borneol; Esters: bornyl acetate, bornyl benzoate.

Properties: Relaxing and calming.

Traditional Uses: Diphtheria, dyspepsia, hypertension, influenza, nervousness, respiratory mucus, tonsillitis and pharyngitis (these uses have not been substantiated by modern clinical research).

Other Possible Uses: According to Franchomme (1990) and as mentioned in the Swiss Pharmacopia, faltrank, goldenrod supports the circulatory system including cardiovascular problems (like tachycardia and arrhythmia), the urinary tract, and liver function. According to the University of Montreal in Canada, goldenrod shows great potential for help with impotence.

Application: Apply to Vita Flex Points and/or directly on area of concern; diffuse. According to literature from Young Living Essential Oils, goldenrod may also be used as a dietary supplement by diluting one drop oil in 4 oz. of liquid (i.e. soy/rice milk or honey).

Oral Use As Dietary Suppliment: None. Although Young Living Essential Oils recommends the use of this oil as a dietary supplement, the FDA has not yet approved it for use as a food additive (FA) or flavoring agent (FL) (see 21CFR172.510 and 21CFR182.20).
